DENR NCR AND DILG NCR CONDUCTED TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY AT TMTP
 
The office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the National Capital Region joined forces on Tuesday, 13 September 2022, in the conduct of a tree planting activity at the Tanza Marine Tree Park (TMTP) in Barangay Tanza Uno, Navotas City.
 
The activity, held in support of DILG’s campaign entitled “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan”, was attended by DENR National Capital Region Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan and DENR Metropolitan Environmental Office-North (MEO-North) OIC Director Nolan Francisco.
 
They were joined by Navotas City Mayor, Hon. John Reynald M. Tiangco, the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO-Navotas), and officials and employees of Barangay Tanza Uno, Navotas City. The DILG-Navotas and Philippine National Police-Navotas likewise sent their representatives.
 
The participants, according to the Coastal Resources and Foreshore Management Section (CRFMS), planted a total of 144 mangrove propagules comprising 56 Bakawan Babae (Rhizophora, sp.) and 88 Api api (Avicennia sp.).
 
TMTP is one of the conservation areas of the DENR National Capital Region. It is a 36-hectare strip of land verdant with mangrove and other mangrove associated-trees that shields the residential areas of Navotas City and neighboring areas. The area is also known for sightings of rare migratory birds. DENR National Capital Region, in partnership with the Navotas City government and other groups, do regular environment protection and conservation activities in TMTP.
