Youth volunteer group One Pawikan conducted a cleanup at the Navotas Marine Tree Park (NMTP) in Barangay Tanza Dos, Navotas City on Sunday, 30 January 2022 in celebration of Zero Waste Month.
Joining members of One Pawikan are officials and staff of the Coastal Resource and Foreshore Management Section (CRFMS) of the Conservation and Development Division (CDD), DENR National Capital Region, and the Bantay Bakawans of NMTP. Together, they recovered a total of 22 sacks of solid wastes – composed mostly of plastic packaging – from the shores of the NMTP.
One Pawikan is a youth-led initiative to raise awareness and mobilize local knowledge on the current conservation status of marine turtles in the Philippines.
