Members of the San Beda Law Environmental Organization volunteered to do a Tree Caring Activity at the DENR National Capital Region Nursery in Quezon City on Saturday, 14 December 2019.

The students cleaned and removed weeds and other unwanted shrubs that could stunt the growth or endanger the survival of planted saplings.

Tree Caring is an alternative activity during off planting season. Apart from cleaning the planting area and removing weeds, volunteers could also help build protective barriers (made from forest litter) for the smaller saplings, till and apply mulch, and water the plants.

The activity would help ensure the survival of saplings planted earlier by other volunteers. DENR National Capital Region Nursery is located inside the La Mesa Water Reservoir Area in Quezon City. Groups and organizations interested in volunteering may send us a message via our Facebook Messenger.
