LGUs of Metro Manila were given recognition by the DENR Environmental Management Bureau-National Capital Region (EMB-NCR) for their contributions and innovations on solid waste management during the 2022 Solid Waste Management Summit held at the Manila Hotel on July 14-15, 2022.
The city governments of Las Piñas and Muntinlupa were given plaques of recognition for their best practices on Composting; Marikina City for their Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) operations; and, the city governments of Manila and Parañaque for Upcycling. Senator Cynthia A. Villar was also recognized for her solid waste management advocacy work. The summit is a yearly activity of the EMB-NCR and is meant to raise public awareness on the issue of solid waste management. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Strengthening Waste Management for a Healthier Environment”.
