JOINT CLEANUP ACTIVITY OF ALABANG CUPANG RIVER IN MUNTINLUPA

The DENR Metropolitan Environmental Office-South, Muntinlupa City Lake Management Office (LMO), and Barangay Cupang conducted a joint cleanup of Alabang-Cupang River in Muntinlupa City last month. The collaborative effort resulted in the removal of 40 sacks of water hyacinths and other trash from the waterway. Stretching 1,114 meters long and bounding Barangays Cupang and Alabang-Cupang in Muntinlupa City, Alabang-Cupang River is connected to Manila Bay via the Laguna Lake and Pasig-Marikina River. Trash thrown into the river, therefore, could find its way to Manila Bay if left uncollected upstream, hence the cleanup activity. The cleanup was conducted in line with the on-going cleanup and rehabilitation of Manila Bay.
