EXPERIENTAL LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE PROGRAM ON PROTECTED AREA MANAGEMENT

DENR National Capital Region Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services, Engr. Ignacio R. Almira, Jr., received officials and technical personnel of DENR Region 1—particularly from Kalbario-Patapat Natural Park (KPNP), Tanap Watershed Forest Reserve (TWFR), Metropolitan Ilocos Norte Watershed Forest Reserve (MINWFR) and Paoay Lake National Park (PLNP)—to the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) on Wednesday, 26 October 2022.

The officials were in Metro Manila for their 3-day experiential learning and knowledge exchange program on protected area management. ARD Almira was accompanied by Conservation and Development Division (CDD) chief and concurrent Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) Protected Area Superintendent (PAsu), Forester Aida E. Esguerra, and Forester Carlito P. Castañeda. The guests were taken on a tour of the LPPWP and its facilities and provided with information on the management practices of the regional office. The learners also visited the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center (NAPWC) in Quezon City during their stay. LPPWP and NAPWC are the two declared protected areas of Metro Manila under Republic Act No. 11038 or the Expanded NIPAS Act of 2018. Both areas are under the supervision of the DENR National Capital Region.
