EMB NCR AND DENR MEO WEST LED ANOTHER BOKASHI BALL THROWING ACTIVITY AT THE DOLOMITE BEACH AREA

The DENR Environmental Management Bureau-National Capital Region (EMB-NCR) led another bokashi ball throwing activity at Dolomite Beach in the Baywalk area, Ermita, Manila on Friday, 29 July 2022.

Personnel from the DENR Metropolitan Environmental Office-West (MEO-West) and Coastal Rangers participated in activity which saw the application of one hundred fifty (150) pieces of bokashi balls on the shores of beach to help improve water quality in the area. Known locally as “Mabuhay Balls,” bokashi balls are made up of fermented organic matter and effective micro-organisms. The micro-organisms help break down toxins and other organic pollutants in the water naturally. Bokashi balls are used to complement the regular coastal cleanups conducted by DENR National Capital Region in support of the ongoing Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program.
