DENR National Capital Region partnered with DILG-NCR in the conduct of a tree planting activity at Baseco lagoon in Barangay 649, Port Area Manila on Tuesday, 13 September 2022.
The regional office was represented by Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Engr. Ignacio R. Almira, Jr. and DENR Metropolitan Environmental Office-West (MEO-West) OIC Director Rodelina M. de Villa while City Directors John A. Visca (Manila) and Gloria C. Aguhar (Muntinlupa City) represented the DILG.
The event was participated by volunteers from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-Manila), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) of Manila City Hall.
The volunteers were able to plant 1,000 mangrove propagules in the lagoon area, one of the conservation areas of the regional office in Metro Manila. DENR National Capital Region is using mangroves to naturally remove pollutants in the lagoon area and rehabilitate the area.
