DENR National Capital Region Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan joined Quezon City Mayor Josefina “Joy” Belmonte and QC District 5 Councilor Patrick Michael D. Vargas in a tree planting activity inside the premises of Sacred Heart Village in Barangay Pasong Putik, Quezon City on Friday, 24 June 2022. The activity, held in celebration of Philippine Arbor Day, was participated by officials and members of Sacred Heart Village Homeowners’ Association led by its President, Engr. Mac Arthur Yoro, and the Quezon City Parks Development and Administration Department headed by Arch. Nancy C. Esguerra. The DENR National Capital Region contingent, on the other hand, consisted of Conservation and Development Division (CDD) Chief, Forester Aida E. Esguerra, and Production Forest Management Section (PFMS) Chief, Forester Arturo G. Calderon. The participants planted flowering trees like Kamuning (300 seedlings), Dwarf Pandakaki (200 seedlings), Balitbitan (50 seedlings), and Palawan Cherry (30), as well as fruit-bearing trees like Langka and Rambutan (20). The regional office also provided ornamental plants. Director Caancan said that trees are important to urban areas and encouraged everyone to plant more trees.
