DENR National Capital Region, through its Manila Bay Site Coordinating/Management Office (MBSCMO) and North Field Office (NFO), is planning to install more trash traps in Caloocan and Valenzuela City to prevent floating trash and debris to reach the shores of Manila Bay.
In line with this, MBSCMO and NFO personnel conducted an ocular inspection of proposed sites for the trash traps on May 26-27, 2021. Trash traps are designed to capture floating litter in waterways and prevent these from flowing out to Manila Bay. DENR National Capital Region installed several trash traps in Metro Manila last year and plans to mount several more in line with the ongoing rehabilitation and cleanup of Manila Bay.
