DENR NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION STARTS GATHERING DATA FOR CARBON STOCK AND SEQUESTRATION STUDY

DENR National Capital Region starts gathering data for its Carbon Stock and Sequestration study at the Quezon City Memorial Circle (QCMC) on Wednesday, 10 August 2022.

The study, led by the Production Forest Management Section (PFMS) of the Conservation and Development Division (CDD), aims to measure the amount of carbon that trees and other plants at the QCMC are able to capture from the atmosphere and store. According to PFMS chief Arturo G. Calderon, the result of the study will help the regional office and the city government of Quezon City in updating and enhancing its greening plan. The study is being conducted with the assistance and guidance of Dr. Dixon T, Gevaña of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources of the University of the Philippines in Los Baños, (UPLB). Representatives from the Quezon City Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (CCESD) also participated in the data-gathering activity.
