DENR National Capital Region, through its North Field Office (NFO), led a cleanup activity on a portion of Tinajeros River in Barangay Maysilo, Malabon City on Wednesday, 3 November 2021.
The NFO, together with Estero Rangers assigned in the area and representatives from Barangay Maysilo, joined in the activity.
The cleanup team managed to remove five hundred seventy (570) sacks of water hyacinths from Tinajeros River.
Tinajeros River is part of the downstream portion of the Malabon-Navotas-Tullahan-Tinajeros (MANATUTI) River System, one of the 3 major river systems of Metro Manila. It cuts through Barangay Maysilo, Malabon City and Barangay Pinalagad, Valenzuela City.
DENR National Capital Region is leading efforts to clean and rehabilitate rivers and esteros of Manila Bay in line with the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program. The conduct of cleanups and other interventions is part of these efforts.
