DENR National Capital Region, through its Manila Bay Site Coordinating and Management Office (MBSCMO), provided trash rafts to the cities of Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Taguig to help them in their efforts to clean and rehabilitate waterways within their respective territorial jurisdictions.

The rafts were distributed to officials and representatives of recipient barangays from October 7 to 9, 2021 at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP). River Protection Officers (RPOs) of the DENR-NCR South Field Office, in coordination with the MBSCMO, facilitated the turnover activity.

Officials and representatives of Barangays Zapote and Manuyo Uno, Las Piñas City; Barangay La Huerta, Parañaque City; and Barangay Calzada Tipas and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office of Taguig City received the trash rafts.

The trash rafts will aid Estero Rangers deployed in their respective barangays in cleaning the waterways in their areas, particularly in collecting trash that cannot be easily reached from the riverbanks. The provision of rafts is in line with the efforts of DENR National Capital Region to clean and rehabilitate Manila Bay.
