DENR National Capital Region through the Manila Bay Site Coordinating and Management Office (MBSCMO) and North Field Office (NFO), handed over trash collector rafts to Barangays San Agustin, Conception, and Ibaba of Malabon City.
The trash collector rafts are among the many innovative engineering interventions of DENR National Capital Region to help the local government units and Estero Rangers of Metro Manila in the cleanup of the rivers and Esteros in their respective territorial jurisdictions.
The rafts are made of recyclable and indigenous materials that can easily be operated by two persons and navigate through small waterways to collect floating garbage. The rafts are capable of carrying a load of up to 552 kilograms.
The rafts were transported from the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) to recipient barangays in Malabon City with the help of the team of PO1 Ronald B. Visaya of the Philippines Coast Guard.
