DENR National Capital Region, through its South Field Office (SFO), conducted an online orientation of Residential Free Patent Law (Republic Act No. 10023) for barangay and city/municipal officials of Las PiƱas, Paranaque, Muntinlupa, Taguig and Pateros.
Mr. Bobby Tagapan, OIC-Chief Environmental Officer for the SFO, stood as a resource speaker for the learning activity. He discussed in detail the qualifications, requirements, and process for applying for a residential free patent.
The Residential Free Patent Law authorizes the DENR to issue free patents on public alienable and disposable residential lands to qualified applicants, making their possession of such lands legal.
Free patent as a mode of disposition provides applicants an alternative to the lengthy, tedious, and financially demanding court process of applying for title over residential lands they have occupied for 10 years or more.
Achieving social justice in land titling and improved land administration and management is one of the priority programs of the DENR under Secretary Roy A. Cimatu
Around 40 participants from the local government units of south Metro Manila joined the online learning activity.
