DENR National Capital Region organizes a Learning and Awareness activity on Wetlands and Biodiversity at the Las Pinas-Paranaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) on Friday, 14 February 2020.
The activity, done in observance of World Wetlands Day, was led by the Protected Areas and Management Section (PAMBS) under the Conservation and Development Division (CDD).
The participants of the activity included office-based personnel and officials of the regional office to better acquaint them of the areas being managed by DENR National Capital Region and the importance of wetlands in the biodiversity of Metro Manila.
LPPWP is one of the protected areas in the capital region under the Expanded NIPAS law (Republic Act 11038) and is recognized by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands as internationally significant because of its critical role in hosting threatened, restricted-range and congregatory bird species as well as the capacity to help mitigate climate change.
