DENR NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION ORGANIZED COMMUNITY PANTREE IN MARIKINA CITY IN CELEBRATION OF PHILIPPINE ARBOR DAY

DENR National Capital Region sets-up a Community PanTREE for residents of Barangay Marikina Heights in Marikina city on Saturday, 25 June 2022, in celebration of Philippine Arbor Day.

The activity, led by Metropolitan Environmental Office-East and Conservation Development Division–Production Forest Management Section (CDD-PFMS), was conducted in partnership with Barangay Marikina Heights PB Miguel A. Punzalan Jr. and BEMO Sandy Preconcillo. Senior Environmental Management Specialist, Forester Florencio G. Diwa, Jr. explained to residents the importance of trees and green spaces to urban areas while PFMS staff Frenz Carlos Balagas provided tips on how to properly plant and take care of the seedlings.

The regional office gave away total of 250 seedlings of fruit-bearing trees like Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum), Langka (Artocarpus heterophyllus), Mango (Mangifera indica), Lemon (Citrus limon), and Kalamansi (Citrus macrocarpa). The celebration of Philippine Arbor Day is in adherence to Proclamation No. 643, series of 2004.
