DENR National Capital Region Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan opens the exhibit of the Toxic and Hazardous Waste Research, Development, and Extension Center (THWRDEC) on Recommended Pollutant-Absorbent Plant Species and ENR Technology Adoption Process at the DENR-NCR Production Nursery Compound in North Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City on Monday, 5 July 2021.

Director Caancan welcomed guests and participants to the exhibit, which features the latest research by THWRDEC on Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Technology. She hailed the efforts of THWRDEC head Nery A. Alba and her staff, especially as their research is relevant and helpful to the ongoing cleanup and rehabilitation of Manila Bay, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic that we are facing.

Director Caancan said that THWRDEC’s research on pollutant-absorbent plant species will be particularly helpful in the habitat restoration projects of the regional office along waterways. THWRDEC’s research will likewise beef up non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPI) in the DENR National Capital Region against the virus.
