Officials of the DENR National Capital Region led by Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan, visited the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) headquarters at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, College of Forestry and Natural Resources (UPLB-CFNR) campus in Los Baños, Laguna on Thursday, 01 October 2020.
Director Caancan was accompanied by Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services, Engr. Ignacio R. Almira, Jr.; Conservation and Development Division (CDD) Chief and concurrent Chief Environment Officer of East Field Office (EFO) Aida E. Esguerra; and Production Forest Management Section (PFMS) Chief Arturo G. Calderon.
They were there to source bamboo samplings for DENR National Capital Region’s tree planting project in Baseco and other parts of Manila in support of Mayor Francisco “Isko” Domagoso urban greening plan. They were met by ERDB Director, Dr. Henry A. Adornado, who committed to provide around 300 saplings of bamboo made up of Kauyang Tinik (Bambusa blumeana), Kauayang Kiling (Bambusa vulgaria), and Bayog (Bambusa meriliana). Director Caancan and her team also visited the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center (RWRC) of DENR CALABARZON Region in Calauan, Laguna.
