DENR National Capital Region through its East Field Office (EFO), led a cleanup at Tumana Creek in Marikina City. Present in the activity, the Estero Rangers are assigned in the area, representatives from Barangay Tumana, and the City Environment Management Office (CEMO) of Marikina City.

The cleanup covered about 252 meters of the waterway, resulting in the recovery of thirty-five (35) sacks of various wastes (composed mostly of plastic packaging).

Tumana Creek is a small waterway that runs northeast of the Marikina River and drains parts of barangays Tumana, Parang, and Malanday, all in Marikina City. Garbage is thrown into the waterway, if not removed, exits to Marikina River and contributes to pollution loading into Manila Bay via the Pasig-Marikina-San Juan (PAMARISAN) River System.

DENR NCR is leading efforts in Metro Manila to clean Manila Bay and all the esteros and rivers connected to it. The activity is part of the ongoing Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program, the DENR led inter-agency effort to restore water quality in Manila Bay following the Writ of Continuing Mandamus of the Supreme Court.
