DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu, along with Supreme Court Chief Justice Diosdado, MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim, DILG Usec. Epimaco Densing and other government officials inaugurates Phase 1 of the rehabilitated Baseco Boardwalk in Barangay 649, Port Area, Manila.
The boardwalk was opened in time with the celebration of the first anniversary of the launching of #BattleForManilaBay on Sunday, 26 January 2020.
The facility is located at the Beach and Mangrove Forest Nursery Operations and Livelihood Center fronting the Baseco Beach area.
DENR National Capital Region has reconstructed the boardwalk using indigenous renewable resources (like bamboo) and replanted the lagoon with mangrove and beach type species to help prevent soil erosion and improve water quality in the area.
