DENR National Capital Region holds its annual New Year’s Call on Monday, 9 January 2023, at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.
The activity gathered all the members of the regional expanded executive committee to celebrate the accomplishments and milestones of the regional office in 2022 and hear Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan’s marching orders for the new year. Although more commonly practiced in the uniformed services nowadays, the unique custom of paying social calls on New Year’s Day originated from Dutch immigrants in New York. Through time, it has been adopted and modified by the military institution to serve as a venue for officers to reaffirm their commitment and loyalty to their commanding officers and their duty to the flag and country.
