Days before the national elections on 9 May 2022, DENR National Capital Region joined the Task Force Oplan Baklas anew to take down campaign materials posted on trees last week, April 26-28, 2022.
The team—composed of officers from the Enforcement Division, DENR Metropolitan Environmental Offices, and representatives from local government units—scoured the streets of Quezon City, Navotas City, and Caloocan City and took down hundreds of illegally posted campaign materials. COMELEC Resolution No. 10730 prohibits the posting of campaign materials on "any trees, plants, shrubs located along public roads, in plazas, parks, school premises or in any other public grounds". Republic Act No. 3571, meanwhile, prohibits Cutting, Destroying or Injuring of Planted or Growing Trees, Flowering Plants and Shrubs or Plants of Scenic Value Along Public Roads, in Plazas, Parks, School Premises or in Any Other Public Pleasure Ground".
