
In line with Presidential Proclamation No. 760 mandating the celebration of January as Zero Waste Month, the DENR National Capital Region, together with EMB National Capital Region conducted a series of webinars aligned with this year’s theme “Bouncing Back from the Pandemic to a Greener and Healthier Environment.”
DENR Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Units Concerns, Usec. Benny D. Antiporda and Director Ma. Matilda A. Gaddi of Task Force Tayo Ang Kalikasan graced the learning event. They were warmly received by DENR-NCR Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan; EMB-NCR Regional Director Atty. Domingo M. Clemente, Jr.; and DENR NCR OIC Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services, Engr. Ignacio R. Almira, Jr.
The learning event featured experts like Ms. Ma. Delia Valdez, OIC-Solid Waste Management Division of EMB Central Office who discussed the Salient Points of RA 9003; Ms. Nelie Dimer, SWMD of EMB who demonstrated “Composting and Edible Gardening”; Ms. Adavieve ‘Teacher Ada’ Lasam, founder of Upcycle Philippines, who discussed the theory and practice of upcycling. The 3-day learning event drew around 700 participants
