The DENR National Capital Region, through its Protected Area Management and BIodiversity Section under the Conservation and Development Division, conducted the annual Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) at the Baseco Port Area and Baywalk, Roxas Blvd. in Manila this Wednesday, January 15, 2020.
The AWC is held every second and third week of January to monitor the distribution and populations of waterbirds and the status of wetlands.
This activity is in line with the upcoming celebration of World Wetlands Day on February 2, 2020. Water birds are one of the important indicators of the health of our wetland areas.
