DENR NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION CONDUCTS ANNUAL ASIAN WATERBIRD CENSUS IN MANILA

Day 2 of Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) in Metro Manila. Protected Area and Biodiversity Management Section (PAMBS) staff of DENR National Capital Region continue the conduct of the AWC at Baseco Beach in Port Area and Dolomite Beach in Ermita, Manila on Friday, 12 January 2023.

Joining them this time are staff of the DENR Metropolitan Environmental Office-West. DENR National Capital Region is monitoring several birding sites in Metro Manila for the AWC, particularly those found in its six (6) coastal cities and three (3) wetland areas. The Philippines, through the DENR, joined the AWC network in the 1990s and is a signatory to important biodiversity conservation treaties like the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), and the Convention on Biological Diversity's (CBD).
