DENR National Capital Region, through its Metropolitan Environmental Office-North (MEO-North), conducted a cleanup in a portion of Pinagsabugan Creek in Malabon City on Sunday, 24 January 2023.
Joining MEO-North in the activity are the Estero Rangers assigned in the area as well as representatives from the City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Malabon City. A total of 173 sacks of mixed waste was removed from the waterway, an open drainage canal connected to Catmon River, Letre Creek, and Tugatog Creek, all in Malabon City. The cleanup is in line with the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program which seeks to improve the water quality of Manila Bay and its tributaries.
MEO-North maintains a strong relationship with various National Government Agencies (NGAs) and their bureaus in the Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas-Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) area in order to secure their continued support and commitment to the cleanup and rehabilitation of Manila Bay and the implementation of environmental laws in their area of jurisdiction.
