DENR National Capital Region Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan was among the guest of honor in the recently concluded Sustainable Urban Gardening Contest of Pasig City on Tuesday, 27 July 2021.

Director Caancan came with Conservation and Development Division (CDD) Chief, Forester Aida E. Esguerra and her staff to personally congratulate the winners of the competition. DENR National Capital Region, through its Production Forest Management Section (PFMS), stood as a judge in the contest.

Pasig City Mayor Victor Ma. Regis “Vico” Sotto awarded the winners with plaques and incentives. The awarding ceremony was held at Meeting Room A, 7th Floor, Pasig City Hall. Barangay Malinao came out on top for Category 1 (Urban Gardens less than 100 sqm in size) while Barangay San Antonio topped contenders for Category 2 (Urban Gardens more than 100 sqm in size).

During her message to Mayor Vico and the winners of the contest, Director Caancan vowed to continue supporting the greening initiatives of the city government by providing planting materials and technical assistance.
