People start lining up in the Community PanTREE of DENR National Capital Region for free seedlings of fruit-bearing trees like Atis, Bayabas, Bignay, Guyabano, and Lipote, as well as seedlings of eggplant, tomato, and other vegetables on Thursday, 22 April 2021 at the DENR NCR Technical Services Office, North Avenue, Quezon City.

The project is the regional office's version of the "Community Pantry"—i.e., community-led food booths that allowed people to donate and get food for free. Instead of food, and other goods, DENR National Capital Region is giving away plants to those in need to promote urban greening and backyard gardening to address the issue of food security amidst the pandemic and changing climate.

In her interview with ABS-CBN's Lingkod Kapamilya program on Thursday, 22 April 2021, Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan explained that the Community PanTREE project aims to provide seedlings to as many people as possible, hence its slogan "Magtanim ayon sa kakayanan, umani ayon sa pangangailangan."

Those who live far, however, need not worry as  Director Caancan announced that plans to establish a "rolling Community PanTREE" to take the project to other parts of Metro Manila are one of the considerations of the regional office. "Just as we worry about our health during these times, we also need to worry about the health of Mother Earth—and to restore the earth, we must contribute by doing our part as responsible stewards, such as planting more trees and reduce our ecological footprints", Director Caancan emphasized.

The Community Pan-TREE is open to the public starting today, Earth Day, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Those who are near the area may drop by and avail of the seedlings for free.
