The DENR Metropolitan Environmental Office-South (MEO-South) led a river clean-up activity on Tuesday, 4 October 2022 at Pasong Cobra Creek, Barangay Talon Singko in Las Piñas City, yielding a total of 220 sacks of mixed waste, 50 sacks of overgrown vegetation, and eight old tires.
During the activity, personnel and Estero Rangers from the MEO-South worked hand-in-hand with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Las Piñas and barangay staff to clear overgrown vegetation and floating solid wastes that had accumulated the waterway. This activity was done to clear the waterway from possible obstructions that could hinder the water flow and eliminate possible breeding grounds for disease-carrying agents like mosquitoes and rats.
The said activity is part of DENR MEO-South’s regular activities that ensure that the rivers and creeks within the local government units of Las Piñas, Parañaque, Taguig, Muntinlupa, and Pateros are regularly cleaned and monitored by the office, as well as the corresponding local government offices and barangays under their jurisdiction.
