The DENR Metropolitan Environmental Office-North (MEO-North) conducted a two (2) day learning event for community leaders and residents of Barangays Tonsuya and Niugan in Malabon City and Barangays Tangos North and South in Navotas City on July 26 and 27, 2022.
MEO North personnel discussed important environmental topics like the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program, Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003), and Climate Change. The importance of disaster preparedness was also tackled, particularly of having their own “Go Bags”. Joining MEO North for its learning activity in Malabon City is Mr. Ashley Nichol Mondido of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO). For Navotas City, Punong Barangays Margarita Limbaro (Tangos North) and Wilfredo Mariano (Tangos South) participated. The learning activity was organized to help increase the awareness and involvement of local communities in the ongoing cleanup and rehabilitation of Manila Bay.
