DENR National Capital Region Regional Executive Director Jacqueline A. Caancan, together with her Assistant Regional Directors, Manuel T. Escasura (Management Services) and Engr. Ignacio R. Almira, Jr. (Technical Services), and Conservation and Development Division (CDD) chief and Protected Area Superintendent (PASU) Aida E. Esguerra, received the delegates of the ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC) to the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) on Thursday, 4 August 2022.
The delegates were given a tour of the Bambusetum, Vermiculture Facility, Mangrove Nursery, and Wetland Learning Center of LPPWP. The AWGESC is a subsidiary body of the ASEAN Senior Officials on Environment (ASOEN) and was established to intensify cooperation between the ASEAN member states in addressing problems associated with urban environmental management and governance to achieve sustainable development as well as promote a clean and green environment. The tour in LPPWP is part of the program for the recently held AWGESC meeting here in the Philippines.
