DENR leads clean-up of esteros in Las Piñas City

DENR Assistant Secretary for Field Operations-Visayas, Marcial Cabanes Amaro Jr., led the simultaneous cleanup of esteros in Las Pinas City on Sunday, 31 March 2019.

Together with partners organizations Villar SIPAG Foundation (represented by Ms. Camille Villar), the city government of Las Pinas, Department of Public Works and Highways, and other mandamus agencies, the cleanup volunteers covered Manarigo Creek in Barangay Talon Uno; Dalig Creek in Barangay Pulang Lupa; and Marulas Creek in Barangay Mayuno Uno.

The clean-up was participated by 130 clean-up volunteers, gathered together four (4) truck loads of trash and marine debris.

The DENR National Capital Region contingent was represented by Conservation and Development Division Chief Aida E. Esguerra and Protected Area Management Biodiversity Section Chief Carlito P. Castañeda.

The simultaneous cleanup of esteros is in line with DENR Sec. Roy A. Cimatu's order to address the issue of pollution in Manila Bay at its source, that is, the rivers and esteros that drain in Manila Bay.
