DENR spearheads clean-up in Paltoc Creek

March 31, 2019

DENR officials led by Undersecretary for Policy, Planning and International Affairs, Atty. Jonas R. Leones; Mines & Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Director, Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano; River Basin Coordinating Office (RBCO) Director, Antonio. M. Daño; and, DENR Policy and Planning Service Director Ma. Lourdes G. Ferrer, spearheaded the cleanup of Paltoc Creek in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City on Sunday, 31 March 2019.

Joining Usec. Leones in the campaign dubbed as #BattleForEsteros are P/B Manuel Co and his Kagawads, and an estimated 200 volunteers coming from different government and non-government organizations.

Paltoc Creek is a tributary of Tullahan River and traverses the three most populous barangays of Quezon City, namely Batasan Hills, Commonwealth and Holy Spirit.

The simultaneous cleanup of esteros is in line with DENR Sec. Roy A. Cimatu's order to address the issue of pollution in Manila Bay at its source.
