DENR-NCR employees perform One Billion Rising dance in celebration of International Women’s Month

March 26, 2018

DENR National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) employees perform the One Billion Rising Dance during Flag Raising ceremony on Monday, 26 March 2018 at the National Ecology Center in Quezon City.

One Billion Rising is a global campaign that calls for an end violence against women. It was first launched on Valentine’s Day 2012 and was participated by many countries. The movement began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime, hence the “One Billion” tag.

The activity is part of the celebration of International Women’s Month and was organized by the Regional Gender and Development Focal Point System (RGAD-FPS) headed by OIC Planning and Management Division Chief Eduardo C. Calzeta, PhD.

RGAD-FPS Vice Chairperson Carmen Hizelle G. Velasco took the opportunity to acknowledge and give credit to all female officials and employees of the regional office, most especially former GAD Chairperson Atty. Manuelita Jatulan who was on medical leave at the time.
