World water day philippines partner organizations pledge commitment to sdg-6

Coinciding with the World Water Day Awards 2018 on March 22, 2018 is the launch of the International Decade for Action: Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028, a United Nations- led campaign that aims to create a solid platform to advance cooperation and partnerships at all levels on integrated management of water resources.

The campaign is in support of Sustainable Development Goal 6, i.e., to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”.

Partner organizations of World Water Day Philippines expressed their support to the campaign by signing a Pledge of Commitment. The ceremonial signing was led by Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Regional Governor-Central Sector Director Jose Tayawa; Director Rolyn Q. Zambalez of Department of Interior and Local Government; Department of Environment and Natural Resources OIC Undersecretary for Manila Bay Concerns and Related Water Concerns Atty. Maria Paz Luna; and Department of Public Works and Highways Social Safeguard Division Chief Rosemarie B. Del Rosario. Standing as witness were Senator Cynthia A. Villar; National Water Resources Board Executive Director Dr. Sevillo D. David, Jr.; River Basin Control Office Executive Director Dr. Antonio M. Daño; Maynilad President & CEO Ramoncito Fernandez; and, United Nations Development Programme Analyst Maria Fe Cabral.
