DENR-NCR conducts learning event on water in celebration of WWD 2018

March 21, 2018

A day before the World Water Day (WWD) 2018 celebration, the DENR-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) organized a learning event on water. The activity was held at the Conference Room of DENR-NCR Building, National Ecology Center in Diliman, Quezon City on Wednesday, 21 March 2018

Dubbed as “Project Water Education for Teachers” or Project WET, the activity aims to equip teachers and environmental advocates in conducting trainings on the wise use of our water resources.

The one-day water activity was facilitated by Nestle Philippines Inc. headed by its Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Engr. Jesus ‘Jess’ G. Reyes. Project WET combines lectures on water, water-related experiential learning activities and interactive games, and film showing.

Organized by the Regional Public Affairs Office (RPAO) and Manila Bay Site Coordinating and Management Office (MBSCMO) of the regional office, the learning event was attended and participated by Youth for Environment for Schools-Organization (YES-O) advisers and co-advisers of public high schools of Malabon City, personnel of Water Resource Utilization Section (WRUS) of DENR-NCR, and PUP students.

DENR-NCR OIC-Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Engr. Ignacio R. Almira Jr., received the participants and, in his opening speech, emphasized the theme of this year’s celebration of WWD, “Nature for Water”. He said that through taking care of the environment, water-related issues can be solved. “Our environment is admittedly degraded at present—including our bodies of water—yet I am confident that through careful and well-thought interventions, we can help clean, restore, and protect our water resources.”
