March 12, 2018

The first DENR-National Capital Region Sustainable Enterprise Bazaar kicked off on Monday, 12 March 2018, at National Ecology Center in Quezon City.

The bazaar was organized by the Regional Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System of DENR-National Capital Region in celebration of National Women’s Month this March.

Participating in the bazaar are the Simula Gabay sa Entrepreneurship para sa Kababaihan Foundation (SIGE) of Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City and Villar SIPAG Foundation (Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance). They will feature products made of recycled materials like used paper, plastic spoons and straws, plastic bottles and bags, and scrap clothings. Pre-loved items of DENR-NCR employees will also be offered for sale.

The activity aims to convince more people that there is more to garbage than meets the eyes and effective solid waste management could be an alternative source of livehood, especially for women. The bazzar will run from March 12 to 19, 2018 and will showcase eco-friendly products made by women.

DENR-NCR OIC Regional Director Jacqueline A. Caancan led the ribbon-cutting ceremony along with OIC Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Engr. Ignacio R. Almira, Jr., Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Amelita DJ. Ortiz and other key officials.
