DENR-NCR conducts Values Orientation Workshop

March 7,2018

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region, through its Human Resource Development Section (HRDS), organized the annual Values Orientation Workshop (VOW) for its employees on March 7-9, 2018 at Hive Hotel and Convention Place in Quezon City.

VOW is composed of three (3) modules—personhood (Pagpapakatao), being a Filipino (Pagka-Filipino), and being a public servant (Pagka-Tagapaglingkod)—and combines lectures, interactive learning games and individual/group work, all aimed in strengthening the commitment of DENR-NCR employees to excellent public service, high moral and ethical standards, social responsibility, and nationalism among others.

Thirty-five (35) DENR-NCR employees coming from different divisions and units participated in the learning event facilitated by Ms. Thelma P. Japzon, former Civil Service Commission (CSC) Director and Accredited Trainer.

DENR-NCR OIC Regional Director Jacqueline A. Caancan said that learning activities like VOW are very much needed to balance the technical trainings that employees regularly participate with. “As important as having technical mastery of the environmental services that DENR provides is, we also need to train our people about the ethical side of public service”, RD Caancan explains. “It is not enough that we deliver services to the people”, she adds, “but we must deliver them conscientiously and with the interest of the public in mind”.

VOW is a program of the CSC pursuant to the provisions of Republic Act No. 6713 or the "Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees".
