DENR apprehended Rattan Poles in pier

March 1, 2018

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources – National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) took custody of the apprehended rattan poles to undergo a thorough investigation.

Three (3) 40-footer container vans, loaded with Rattan as declared commodity, from the port of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan docked at Pier 4, North Harbor, Manila in early January 2018. However, only one (1) out of the three container vans was accompanied by transport documents.

The Port Integrated Clearing Office (PICO) under the Enforcement Division (ED) of DENR-NCR, with the assistance of Bureau of Customs, opened and inspected the remaining undocumented container vans with the presence of the parties concerned and verified the contents – raw rattan poles.

In view of the initial findings, the authorities issued an Apprehension Receipt for lack of requisite transport documents and permits in violations of Section 77 of Presidential Decree 705, as amended, DAO 89-04 and DAO 94-07 and other applicable forestry laws, rules and regulations.

The DENR-NCR, through the Enforcement Division and the support of the Legal Division, shall commence the Administrative Adjudication Proceedings of the apprehended rattan poles.
