Women power!

March 03, 2018

Female employees of DENR-National Capital Region get down and dirty planting mangroves at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA) on Saturday, 03 March 2018.

DENR-NCR decided to replant the area with Rhizophora upon the completion of the concreting and development of the south-bound Service Road of Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Once fully grown, the mangroves will help against siltation, protect the shoreline and improve water quality in the area.

DENR-NCR takes pride in having the most women executives in its history. The reason why, according to OIC Regional Director Jaqueline A. Caancan, CESO V, is pretty obvious: “Our female employees are not afraid to take on jobs usually done by men and finish it with flair”, she says. Women power is very much in display in DENR-NCR, with 25 female occupying key positions.

RD Caancan is the latest female executive of DENR-NCR, replacing RD Lourdes C. Wagan who now heads the Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Service (FASPS).
