DENR-NCR  present Plaque of Recognition to Villar SIPAG Foundation

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) presented a Plaque of Recognition to Villar SIPAG (Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance) Foundation on Saturday, 24 February at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA).

The plaque was awarded by DENR-NCR, In-Charge, Office of the Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Engr. Ignacio R. Almira, Jr. Receiving the award is Senator Cynthia A. Villar, Managing Director for Villar SIPAG.

The award was in recognition of Villar SIPAG Foundation’s invaluable assistance and support to the regional office’s programs, activities, and projects for the year 2017.

The awarding ceremony coincided with DENR-NCR’s culminating activity for World Wetlands Day 2018. The regional office co-organized with Villar SIPAG Foundation and Manila Bay Sunset Partnership Program, Inc. (MBSPPI) a coastal clean-up and nature appreciation walk in line with the theme “Urban Wetlands Making Cities Liveable” at LPPCHEA. The activity was participated by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), Philippine Navy, PNP Maritime Group, Philippine Red Cross, and local government units of Parañaque City and Las Piñas City. Volunteers from non-governmental organizations, private sectors, and the academe also participated in the event.

LPPCHEA is the only wetland area in the Philippines situated with a highly-urbanized area and recognized by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands as a wetland with international significance. LPPCHEA is managed by DENR-NCR.
