Learning Event on new Procurement Information System (PIS)

February 7, 2018

The DENR-National Capital Region successfully concluded on Tuesday, 7 February 2018, its two-day learning event cascading the new Procurement Information System (PIS) at the National Ecology Center (NEC) in Diliman, Quezon City.

The learning event sought to orient DENR employees responsible in the procurement of supplies and services of their respective organizational units on how the PIS works prior to its operationalization for this financial year.

The PIS—which automates the filing and tracking of purchase requests and other related documents, as well as monitor expenditure—is expected to improve efficiency and transparency in the regional office’s procurement system.

Newly-appointed OIC Regional Director Jaqueline A. Caancan, CESO V, lauded the conduct of the learning event as this was in line with her objective of automating and improving the service delivery processes of DENR-NCR. “The technology is there”, she explained, “and we, as an organization, should use and take advantage of technology to improve our service to clients”.

RD Caancan likewise informed those in attendance that it is her intention to apply for ISO certification in her next six (6) months in office. “We are here in Metro Manila, the so-called prime region”, she pressed, “and it is thus incumbent upon us to be a model for other regions—to be the number one—in service delivery and performance.”
