Secretary Cimatu appoints new DENR-NCR chief

January 31, 2018

Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) has a new Director.

Following a simple turn-over ceremony led by no less than DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu himself on Wednesday, 31 January 2018, former EMB Assistant Director Jacqueline A. Caancan received the DENR-NCR flag from outgoing Regional Director Lourdes C. Wagan.

In her acceptance speech, RD Caancan confided that her journey in DENR did not immediately start with a big leap, but rather with hardships and struggles. But these prepared her for every next challenge that comes her way.

“So in this new assignment, I look forward to making a positive difference”, RD Caancan announced, assuring everyone, Sec. Cimatu and all other DENR high officials and employees around, that she works hard and does not treat any new challenge as a road block.

“One needs to be thankful for each new challenge,” RD Caancan noted, as this builds one’s character and leadership.

RD Caancan is a licensed forester, has a Master Degree in Management, and completed academic requirements on Masters in Public Administration, and a diploma course graduate in environmental studies. She is a Career Executive Service Officer with CESO V Rank.

She has been with the DENR since 1981. During her service as an executive, she functioned as Chief for Planning, Administrative and Finance Division, and OIC-Regional Director of EMB Region 4B, prior to her assignment as EMB Region 9 Director and OIC, Assistant Director and concurrent In-Charge, Office of the Director of the Environmental Management Bureau.

RD Caancan is the fifth lady Regional Director of DENR-NCR.
