January 26, 2018

In line with the celebration of National Zero Waste Month this January, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) conducted a lecture-forum on Zero Waste Management on Friday, 26 January 2018 at Sta. Elena High School in Marikina City.

The learning event—which combines lectures, film showing and interactive group activity—aims to educate the youth on the importance of proper waste management.

The activity was participated by twenty-five (25) Grade 7 students of San Roque National High School and twenty-five (25) Grade 8 students of Sta. Elena High School, together with officers of Youth for Environment Students-Organization (YES-O) and their teachers-advisers. Organized and facilitated by the Regional Public Affairs Office (RPAO) of the DENR-NCR, the event was also participated by representatives of Youth Desk Office (YDO) of DENR-NCR and Environmental Education and Information Unit (EEIU) of the Environmental Management Bureau-National Capital Region (EMB-NCR).

Now on its fourth year, the theme for this year’s celebration of National Zero Waste Month is “Sustaining shared responsibilities”. The activity also coincided with the anniversary of the enactment of Republic Act 9003 or “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000”.
