DENR-NCR monitors conduct of wildlife exhibit anew

January 19, 2018

Consistent with its mandate of regulating trade of wildlife and its derivatives, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR), thru its Wildlife Resources Permitting Section of Licenses, Patents and Deeds Division monitored the conduct of exhibit of exotic animals anew during the 3rd Reptile X: Exotic Pets Showcase from January 19 to 21, 2018 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Apart from monitoring the activity, DENR-NCR personnel were also on hand to provide information to exotic pet owners and enthusiasts about Republic Act 9147—also known as the “Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2011”—and their responsibilities under the law.

Working under the theme “United as One, United as Family, United we Stand. Responsible Animal Keeping Towards Legalization”, the event intends to educate the public about regulations on the trade of wild animals and its derivatives, as well as encourage enthusiasts to source their pet animals from registered captive breeders only.
