DENR, CSO Summit on Sierra Madre

July 26, 2017

Around 200 participants from Regions 2, 3 and 4-A representing both government and civil society organizations (CSOs) were in Metro Manila early this week to attend the DENR-CSO Summit on Sierra Madre hosted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR).

Regional Director Lourdes C. Wagan welcomed the participants to the 2-day event held on July 26-27, 2017 at Hive Hotel and Convention Place in Quezon City. She expressed her confidence that the body would be able to come up with solutions and action plans to save the Sierra Madre, the longest mountain range in the country that is home to many plants and animals and a natural treasure.

Assistant Secretary for Field Operations-Luzon Juan Miguel Cuna also attended the event and conveyed the message of environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu. He said Sec. Cimatu fully supports efforts that seek to strengthen the connection and unity of government and civil society organizations in resolving environmental issues facing the Sierra Madre.

“Bibigyan natin ng kasiguruhan na maprotektahan ang mga natitirang likas yaman sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalakas sa ugnayan ng DENR at CSO,” Cuna said.
