Practice run for Lakbay Manila Bay

March 30, 2017

The DENR-National Capital Region did a practice run of Lakbay Manila Bay on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

Organized by the Regional Public Affairs Office (RPAO), Lakbay Manila Bay is an educational tour to the proposed Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) sites of DENR-National Capital Region and other places of ecological importance in Metro Manila.

Participating the activity are women employees of DENR-NCR representing the different divisions of the regional office. As such, it also served as the culminating activity for the celebration of National Women's Month.

With Lakbay Manila Bay, the participants got to tour the La Mesa Watershed and Arboretum Park, the East La Mesa Water Treatment Plant of Manila Water, Inc., the Payatas Engineered Sanitary Landfill, and the Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA).

The tour is designed to educate the participants about the importance and place of the SIAD sites in the overall ecology of NCR—following the "ridge-to-reef" or ecosystems approach—through a combination of lectures and experiential learning activities.

The RPAO plans to formally launch Lakbay Manila Bay later this year
