Lakbay Manila Bay Lecture

April 21, 2017

DENR-NCR, in partnership with EMB-NCR and the LLDA, celebrated Earth Day 2017 by conducting the Lakbay Manila Bay Lecture for officers of SANAPA Federation on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Barangay Batasan Hills in Quezon City.

The learning event—which combines lectures and group activity—aimed to prepare the participants about the Lakbay Manila Bay Educational Tour the following day and introduce as well environmental concepts and issues.

Lakbay Manila Bay is an educational program of the Regional Public Affairs Office (RPAO) of DENR-NCR. It aims to educate participants about the state of environment of Metro Manila through a visit of the four Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) sites of Metro Manila following the “ridge-to-reef” approach. It also intends to inform the public about the actions taken by DENR-NCR to address issues such as environmental degradation, air and water pollution, solid waste and climate change among others.

DENR-NCR Regional Director Lourdes C. Wagan graced the event and delivered a mini-lecture herself about Earth Day and the importance of being responsible in sustaining and protecting the environment. She said that celebrating Earth Day is important because “iisa lang ang mundong tinitrhan natin” and it is the Earth which sustains and keeps us alive.

Earth Day is a yearly event celebrated on April 22. This year’s campaign of Earth Day is Environmental and Climate Literacy.
