DENR-NCR prepares for launching of Environmental Education Program
January 12, 2017
As part of its preparation for the conduct of an intensified environmental education campaign, DENR-NCR officers undergo orientation and training on the “Kids to Forest” (K2F) program of Yakap Kalikasan Tungo sa Kaunlaran ng Pilipinas, Inc. (Yakap Kalikasan), the pioneering non-government organization that implemented the program under the auspices of the United Nation Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO).
The 3-day training was held at the La Roca Resort in Los Baños, Laguna from January 12 to 14, 2016. Photo shows representatives from the Regional Public Affairs Office (RPAO), Conservation and Development Division (CDD), License, Patents and Deeds Division (LPDD) and Administrative Division of DENR-NCR listen intently as Ms. Janet Martirez of Yakap Kalikasan discuss the importance of facilitation skills in handling an advocacy program.
The training was concluded with a short program involving elementary students from Regions IV-A and II at the Makiling Rainforest Park, also in Los Baños, Laguna. The program allowed the participants to interact with kids and test their mettle on program facilitation.
Regional Director Lourdes C. Wagan said she was hopeful that the training would help DENR-NCR in crafting a similar program for the region but one that is based on the specific training needs of its target audience and with particular stress on the “ridge-to-reef” approach.
